In the seventeenth century the Mughal Emperor Jahangir said these words in Persian language about the Kashmir valley. This means that if paradise is anywhere on the earth, it is here in Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir is the northern most state in India and is also known as "Paradise on Earth"

Jammu & Kashmir is classified in three geographical regions:

 “The Lesser Himalayas or The Jhelum Valley” (Kashmir),
 “The Inner Himalayas \ Trans-Himalayas” or “The Indus Valley” (Ladakh & Frontier areas)
 “The Outer-Himalayas which lies between southern mountain range” (Jammu).

The approximate area covering the State of Jammu & Kashmir is 2, 22,236 square kilometers.
